View of Aabachstausee

Highlight • Viewpoint

With an area of around 1.8 km², the Aabachstausee is the largest lake in East Westphalia-Lippe.
The lake lies in a natural landscape and is not very touristically developed. It is surrounded by an approximately 9 km long, paved circular path, from which one always has great views of the lake.

Aabach Reservoir

Highlight • Lake

The almost three-kilometer-long and 1.5-kilometer-wide dam provides drinking water for more than 250,000 residents. Here you can enjoy nature and take in the sweeping views over the water. Unfortunately, swimming in the giant bathtub is not permitted. For hygiene reasons, no water sports are permitted on the Aabach dam. It is beautiful, however.

Also perfect with children! My 4 year old son rode his bike while I ran. Thanks to the tar road (closed to cars) and hardly any gradients, it is perfect.

Today, in the most beautiful autumn sunshine, I spontaneously went to the Aabach dam to run two laps - the first long run after my ankle injury 😅
Therefore, a quiet pace of 6:45 was actually planned ... uh
Have a nice weekend everyone☀️🍀😘

Today we spontaneously went for a relaxed run around the Aabachtalsperre. My middle one rode with inline skates and my little one with the scooter. In the best sunshine it was just beautiful 🤩

Sometimes it just goes so well that you just hang on to a round of Aabach dam and run twice ... If it works, then it works 😀🌞 And that in the most beautiful sunshine!

First time with my running shoes at my favorite lake.
The Aabachtalsperre is rather small in relation to many others in the Sauerland. But that's exactly what makes her special. Due to the drinking water reservoir, no dogs are allowed here. Accordingly, there is nothing going on here & despite a perfectly paved circular route.
