Coffin Trail with Views of Loweswater and Crummock Water

Highlight • Trail

very runnable terrace with views over Loweswater and Crummock

Don't be put off by the name of this footpath! Corpse Road is a very unfortunate name! But it does feature one of the most beautifully situated benches in all of Lakeland. With views across Loweswater onto Whiteside and Grasmoor, it's a lovely place to sit. Carry on up the path to get to the summit of Burnbank Fell.

Holme Wood Waterfall

Highlight • Waterfall

Holme Wood is a quiet and peaceful place to visit. The mixed woodland of alder, oak, lime, chestnut, ash and sycamore is not as visited as you might expect, meaning you can enjoy it in relative solitude. Running from the shores of Loweswater up the fellside to a height of almost 900 feet, Holme Wood's inviting pathways will lead you to spectacular views too.

Loweswater

Highlight • Viewpoint

Loweswater is one of the smaller lakes in the Lake District. It's unusual in that it drains towards the centre of the national park rather than towards the edge. It's owned and managed by the National Trust who maintain the paths around the lake.
For a runner the circuit of the lake is a nice fairly flat loop of about 4.2 miles (6.8 km). It's a nice change to run around the wooded sides of the lake rather than the more exposed fells.

Loweswater

Highlight • Natural Monument

Loweswater is a peaceful lake that's often missed by many visitors. At approximately 1 mile long (1.6 km) and 0.5 mile (0.8 km) wide, it provides an excellent lake circuit for walkers with magnificent views to enjoy. If you don't fancy hiking around the whole body of water, though, why not enjoy the serene Holme Wood?
