The surface is gravel, but it is easy to ride. I liked it on this tour:

Lake Rottach

Highlight • Lake

A beautiful, clear lake in which even regularly dived. In addition to some swimming areas, there is also a campsite, a boat rental and, as everywhere, where there is a lot of wind, even windsurfers.

Lake Rottach

Highlight • Lake

On the side of the lake where I cycled on my tour, there are a number of lovely little places where you can stop and enjoy yourself. There is no traffic on this side... except for the cyclists, of course.

View of Lake Rottach

Highlight • Viewpoint

The Rottachsee is used for flood protection, to raise the low water levels of the Iller and Danube and to generate electricity from hydropower. For this purpose, a through-flow turbine with an output of 480 kW is operated in the hydroelectric power station. The system generates around 1.6 million kWh per year.[5] The dam has a 38 m high and 190 m long earthen dam. The dam is 70 m high. The lake and some areas of its shore, in particular the terrain of a pre-dam area near the hamlet of Bisseroy, which is separate from the rest of the lake, are used as a recreational area. The area around the reservoir is now known as a biotope because many plants and animals have settled there.
