Hagnau Town Hall

Former bailiff's office and town hall building. Anyone passing Hagnau by land or sea will notice the long, stately building located near the lake at the eastern end of the Unterdorf. It is, as the people of Hagnau say, the "Hof", meaning the former bailiff's office of the former imperial monastery Weingarten near Ravensburg. Under Abbot Sebastian Hiller, the construction of the monastery courtyard began around 1700 and was completed in 1714.

The building contains, among other things, two long vaulted cellars, two halls with magnificent Rococo stucco ceilings, and a spacious attic. The town hall is now located on the upper floor, while the Hagnau Museum and community rooms are on the ground floor.

The Starenturm was built to defend the grapes from birds and is therefore located in the middle of the vineyard. On the top floor of the Starenturm, grape guardians have their post.
