The Lower Biskeden are a low mountain range that lies partly in eastern Slovakia and partly in south-eastern Poland. Church of the Protection of the Mother of God

This Orthodox parish church has stood in its current form in the village of Hańczowa since around the first half of the 19th century. After the Second World War, they were saved from further destruction by the residents and extensively renovated. Today it is one of the best restored churches of the Lemkian sacral architecture.

The three-part wooden church consists of a nave, a choir and a tower. Inside, you can admire the ornate and multicolored painted walls and the magnificent 18th-century iconostasis.

Scenic Road from Kwiatoń to Hańczowa

A nice section on the new asphalt among beautiful views of the Low Beskids. I rode this section from Kwiatoń to Hańczowa. First uphill, a bench at the top in the forest where you can rest, and then a nice downhill ride to Hańczowa right next to the historic Orthodox Church (there is also a small shelter where you can stop). This section is partly in the open and partly in the woods. Despite the driveway, I recommend beautiful views and a nice ride on new asphalt.

Chapel of St. Cosmas and Damian

This decorative wooden church was built in 1837 and is one of the most beautiful western Lemki sacred buildings.

From the outside you can admire the tripartite log construction and the clapboard roofs and walls. Inside the church you can expect figurative ornamental murals from around 1900. The church was built in the second half of the 17th century. The date of construction is often given as 1700. The tower was added in 1743. This date was found on one of the beams of the structure. However, it may only refer to the renovation of the older tower. It is the oldest probably dated tower of the Lemko church. After Operation Vistula in 1947, the temple began to be used as a Roman Catholic church, belonging to the parish in Uście Gorlickie. Currently, it is shared between Roman Catholics and Greek Catholics.
