The castle and its lands became a marquisate and René de Longueil obtained authorization from Louis XIV to close the castle park. Built between 1659 and 1670 by François Mansart, the building must be both monumental and protective in order to welcome the King during these hunts in Saint-Germain-en-Laye.
It was a set made up of two gates, South and North, and 6 pavilions distributed on either side of the central ditches.
