Blankenstein Lock

The lock system, built in 1777/78, is a listed building and is part of the Route of Industrial Culture. The following can be read on the information board: "In 1835, 21 2/3 silver groschen had to be paid for the lock of an Aake (= ship). In 1866, 327 loaded ships were locked at this lock."

A gorse in bloom near where it was found prompted Cramer to register this suspicion under the name of Peony Flower.
