Langendorf Observation Tower

Highlight • Viewpoint

Lookout towers are always worth a break. This is in the three-country triangle: Lower Saxony, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Brandenburg. If you climb it, you get a wonderful view over the Elbe. Ober is explained in a panoramic image, what you see.

Camel Farm Near the Dike

Highlight • Structure

Beautiful courtyard directly behind the dike, where you can get cold drinks and ice cream. The owner is very nice and is happy to give you a little tour (to the camels, etc.). There are also two RV sites available via Landvergnuegen and park4night.

The Dömitzer Bridge is one of the most impressive bridge structures in Germany. Due to its proximity to Dömitz Fortress, it had to be erected from the start of construction in such a way that it could be defended militarily in the event of an enemy attack - the massive bridge house still bears witness to this today.

During the Second World War, the river bridges and the swing bridge were destroyed by an air raid, leaving only the bridge arches on the flooded area. Since the Elbe marked the border during the division of Germany, the bridge was not rebuilt and fell into disrepair over time.

Now it should finally wake up again: With EU funding amounting to millions, the bridge will be renovated and made accessible, and gastronomy at the bridge house will probably follow.

Nature Along the Elbe Meadows

Highlight • Natural

Numerous bird species can be observed to the right and left of the dyke path. In addition to geese, numerous great egrets and herons, falcons and kites, white storks and eight black storks, we were able to count today. I have not yet observed such a number of black storks in nature. An absolute tour highlight

From the Elbe dike (Elbe Cycle Path) you have a wonderful view of the meadow landscape between the Elbe and Elbe dykes. You also have very good opportunities to observe wild animals and birds, because the meadow landscape on the banks of the Elbe is also a small paradise for the animal world.

View of the Elbe in Damnatz

Highlight • Viewpoint

Damnatz is a very pretty, small village on the south bank of the Elbe. The Elbe cycle path also leads through the village. A very nice place to take a break while on a bike ride. There are beautiful Elbe beaches here and you can watch birds of prey (e.g. white-tailed eagles, red mackerel and buzzards) and other bird species very well.

Rest Area Siemen

Highlight • Rest Area

A nice little place for a rest, with three benches and a table. When it rains and / or storms, you can shelter (or sit down) in the bus shelter, which is only a few meters away from the rest area.
