This must have been done with some ignorance if one is to believe the following lines taken from the website (see above): "Under Pastor Josef Bunte, work began in 1969 on the extension of the church according to the plans of the architect Alfons Boklage, Münster. The old choir was demolished, valuable windows destroyed and many figures of saints damaged, others completely destroyed, some statues were long thought to be lost." Well - but later a few statues of saints were brought back. Was here in June 2020, visited the church from the outside. I was particularly impressed by the large bronze plaque on the portal of the old part of the church. While taking photos, I discovered that directly behind the church building there is an impressive memorial to the fallen of both world wars from the surrounding towns and the municipality of Lastrup. The fact that the Astrid Lindgren primary school grundschule-lastrup.de is adjacent to it is a hopeful coincidence...
