The origin of the Pedracastell cross dates back to 1901, when Pope Leo XIII asked that towns raise crosses to commemorate the new century. In 1902, a cross designed by Lluís Domènech i Montaner and promoted by Marià Serra was erected. This monument fell in 1926 due to a strong gale. The second cross was a copy of the first and was erected a year later. With the arrival of the war, the anarchist movement decided to demolish it in July 1936. The current cross dates from 1954 and was built with the impetus of a group of young Catholics.
