A quiet Freycinet lock in the bend of the Meuse valley, just outside Joigny‑sur‑Meuse. The lock is situated between high Ardennes slopes and offers a beautiful moment to see the canal and the river running parallel. The old lock keeper's house and the open view of the valley make this a small but atmospheric stop on the Charleville‑Mézières – Givet route.

From the Base Camp in Haulme it was only a short day to Charleville-Mezieres, a city we really wanted to make a stop at. We booked an airbnb for 2 nights and enjoyed walking around the city in hot temperatures.
