Duck under the 'Fisher Family Pier' sign to head out onto the Pompano Beach Pier. It's a popular place for families to go fishing or for a stroll. View of Hillsboro Inlet Lighthouse

There is a great view of the Hillsboro Inlet Lighthouse from the North Ocean Boulevard. When the lighthouse was first built in the early 20th century, it was found to be the cause of wildfires in the Everglades. When the light was stopped during daylight, it would focus light inland and start a fire. The lighthouse was altered to prevent this from happening. It is open for private tours once a month.
