View of the Manhattan skyline from the Pulaski Bridge

Highlight • Viewpoint

This is one of my favorite bridges to ride my bike across. It's an active drawbridge that connects Queens to Brooklyn. It's most beautiful during the early morning hours. It has a beautiful view of the Manhattan skyline.

Hilltop Bicycles, Williamsburg

Highlight • Rest Area

This is a neighborhood not to be missed. There's really a lot going on here. Great restaurants and bars and especially in Bushwick a whole district with street art (pictures of houses). Really great. Even Schimanski made it to NY. The Schimi's (really based on the scene of the crime - Schimanski from Duisburg) is only 2 streets away next to the bike shop. And feel free to go down to the East River in the small parks. See photo of the international foot markets every Saturday. The bike shop is also the best in town for me. They can do anything. Unfortunately, it is difficult to reach by subway if the bike is broken. Right next to it is a small park where a foot market takes place every Saturday in summer (from Memorial Day / Pentecost). Excellent ! But also the stores and shops on the main street some 100 m away from the East River. Really nice and lots of good. I prefer it here during the week. At the weekend it is often very crowded

Brooklyn offers the best views of Manhattan. There are also many nice cafes here and the atmosphere is relaxed.

View of the Brooklyn Bridge

Highlight • Viewpoint

No, the Brooklyn Bridge wasn't built by a woman, but Emily Warren Roebling played a crucial and indispensable role in the project's completion. When her husband, Chief Engineer Washington Roebling, was unable to work due to illness, Emily took over day-to-day construction supervision, acquired the necessary skills, and acted as a liaison between the construction site and her husband. She was the "political force" and the "eyes and ears" for the bridge, thus enabling the successful completion of the structure.

Yes, a great place to admire the skyline! Whether during the day or at night! But it is most beautiful at sunset!

A waterfront promenade with its own bike lane, a beautiful view of Manhattan and, above all, no traffic lights.
