Bormio Old Town

Highlight • Settlement

Bormio is a fairly well-known winter sports resort. What makes Bormio extremely likeable, however, is the fact that this small town has completely retained its idyllic atmosphere. No sign of sophisticated, artificial hotels. Instead, there are many small, cozy accommodations where Mama Leone herself is still in the kitchen and the owner tries to engage you in conversation while he looks after your bike - in Italian, of course. The cozy, authentic old town immediately puts you in a vacation feeling. The only thing that takes a little getting used to is the (also extremely authentic) Italian relaxed atmosphere - the town only really comes to life in the afternoon.

Fior d'Alpe Cancano Military Road

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

Very characteristic road in military style, long straights and gentle hairpin bends regulate the fantastic ascent, including the 2 tunnels of living rock at the top of the arrival of the Fraele towers.

It is the most beautiful area of the entire climb, not only because of the tornanti, but also because of the views of the Valdidentro.
We cyclists always like to go up through tornanti, so you will surely enjoy this experience. And not just the first time... you always enjoy it.

The climb from Bormio up to the Laghi di Cancano lakes fascinates me with its unique views of the valley and the surrounding mountains. 21 historic switchbacks wind their way steadily up the mountain to the Torri di Fraele.

The towers, built in 1391, stand at an altitude of 1,930 meters and were once erected to protect the Alta Valtellina. …
