Signage on the Camino de Santiago is essential for pilgrims.
Yellow arrows: These arrows will guide you throughout the entire route. They indicate the direction to follow, especially at crossroads. The yellow color is due to the contribution of the parish priest Elías Valiña, a key figure in the resurgence of the Camino de Santiago in the 20th century.
Cairns or milestones: These concrete blocks include an arrow, a yellow shell on a blue background and the distance in kilometers to Santiago de Compostela. You will find them every 500 meters in Galicia.
Scallop shells: In addition to being drawn on the markers, scallop shells are distributed throughout the Camino. They are universal symbols and have been carried by pilgrims for centuries. The open part of the shell indicates the direction towards Santiago.
Good way! 🚶‍♂️🌟

Vineyard and Forest Path

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

This section combines two types of landscape: first, a path that winds through a very humid forest where the greenery of ferns and mosses predominates. On the other hand, there are the enormous orchards and vineyards that adorn and give life to this part of Galicia.

Well protected from the approaching rain, we passed the Sanctuarium Virxe Peregrina through the old town and left Pontevedra. Back roads and dirt roads alternated until we reached Alba. The small church is very pilgrim-friendly. For a donation you can make tea and coffee and there is fruit. There is even a toilet, shower and washing machine and enough seats …

A very beautiful trail, relatively shaded, along small streams. Very small villages, therefore hardly any (open) rest stops along the route.

Today, WE were woken up by the pouring rain.
So, well-wrapped up against the rain, we set off on the Camino.
By 11:00 a.m., the rain had passed, and so had WE. After a period of cloudiness, the sun finally appeared in the early afternoon.
Since our new accommodation didn't open until 3:00 p.m., WE went for a walk in …

We had already chosen a café where we wanted to have breakfast. And just as we got there, it started to rain. So, we did everything right ☺️ After that, the weather was nice for the rest of the day ☀️
It was very relaxed, we had plenty of time and it was a beautiful stage with lots of greenery …
