Metz presented itself with sensational sunny weather and is always worth a visit.
The exhibitions at the Centre Pompidou by Katharina Grosse's Bed, which took me more on dreamed-of Alpine hikes, and Cerith Wyn Evans' light installations with a view of Metz were sensational, but unfortunately temporary.
