Located in the northwest corner of Griffith Park is the Travel Town Museum and railway park covering the history of railroad transportation in the western United States. The railroad museum sections contains 43 full-scale railroad engines, cars and other rolling stock. There is also a quaint miniature train available that travels over one mile of track. It traverses a cute bridge, goes through a forest and an old Western Town.

This surprisingly large flat terrace in the Hollywood Hills has a wide green lawn and playground with a drinking water fountain and picnic tables with perfect views of the Hollywood sign. Put up in 1923 and originally spelling “Hollywoodland” for a real estate development, the unmistakable large letters were only supposed to last for 18 months. The meteoric rise of filmmaking and fame in Hollywood made the sign it's iconic landmark on Mount Lee in Griffith Park ever since, and its last 4 letters “land” were removed in 1949. This landmark was rebuilt in steel in 1978 and was last repainted in 2005. For an up-close look you can hike into Griffith Park on Mulholland Dr, that is blocked to car traffic a few hundred yards up the switchbacks.

This large man made reservoir set in the Hollywood Hills provides a substantial amount of the freshwater for the city of Los Angeles. The flat paved loop around it is an easy, flat, nearly three and a half mile route that takes you around the total perimeter of the reservoir itself. It affords you stunning views and one that includes the view of the famed Hollywood sign high up on the hill.
