View of the Moselle and Neef from Petersberg

Highlight • Viewpoint

Beautiful vantage point on the Moselsteig, from which you can admire both the distance traveled since Bullay and the upcoming Calmont via ferrata. It is also offered a webcam, which allegedly at the touch of a button live images as greetings on the Internet. Unfortunately, the site is not mobile-friendly, so the button does not show and therefore clicks. In addition, a QR code would be helpful, over which the URL is directly accessible. But you do not come to the beautiful Mosel because of that ;-)

Nice via ferrata. Surefootedness and a head for heights are required on the entire trail. There are plenty of places to rest, take photos and get information.

One of the most beautiful Moselsteige with challenging passages. Sturdy shoes, sure-footedness and good physical condition are the prerequisites for mastering the Moselsteig Trail on the "Todesangst" passage.

Calmont Ridge Trail

Highlight • Trail

A super "via ferrata" or rather "climb" for beginners. There, surefootedness and, to a certain extent, height suitability can be tested. Via ferrata set is not mandatory, but advisable especially for inexperienced climbers. Sturdy shoes and gloves are required!

On weekends and public holidays, wine from Calmont and cake are served here. Tastes great, after you have the via ferrata behind you.

Wonderfully long and strenuous hike with numerous great views - worth every effort

The Calmont near Bremm is the steepest vineyard in Europe, and the viewing platform there is the destination of my second Moselsteig tour. That doesn't sound too bad, and I'm excited to see what awaits me. The day begins with drizzle, even though no precipitation is forecast. From Bullay train station, it's naturally... uphill first.

That was the 5th day on the Moselsteig between Trier and Cochem. The sections on the Middle Moselle are certainly among the most beautiful sections on the climb. So if the time is limited, this variant is definitely recommended, some sections can be covered by bus. In total, a third of the climb is then hiked.
Today's stage from Bullay …

Before I take a break from hiking on the Mosel, I had to conquer the Calmont and the Petersberg today.
Here on the Calmont there are some of the steepest vineyards on the Mosel. A via ferrata leads directly through the vineyards. I dared to do it last autumn. Great experience, including a spectacular play of colours.

Day 6 (Beilstein):

Our tour started at Ediger-Eller train station. Just finding it is a bit of an adventure in itself. With the RB 81 we drove to Bullay and reached the Moselsteig trail, which runs far above the village. The approx. 8 km to Neef are almost entirely forested. Without highlights, without a view of the Moselle. This is …

Wow 👍👍👍👍👍👍 mega, mega, super cool 😎😎😎 everything worked out perfectly... it started at minus 4 °.... and on the Calmont it was actually 16 °....so, that I walked the last part of the hike in a t-shirt. Once shortly before Calmont, Komoot lost the GPS, but I followed the Moselsteig sign. (about 1 km more to come) Since I …

Motto: Exhilarating ups and downs.🌋
If you like, it's pretty alpine🧗‍♂️. With the high point on the Calmont above the Moselle loop. Fewer paths through the vineyards, more forest. It's also quite cool.
We arrived in Ediger-Eller, a cute 🍇 wine town. Anna👸, the wine queen for the entire Moselle region, was chosen from this place last night. And we …

Great up to Neef, with a small climb and great views.
From Neff onwards, wide forest paths, mostly gravel and asphalt.
A little rain on the last few kilometers.
