Egret Park

Highlight • Rest Area

This very small park is at the end of the LA River Bike Path, just before you exit the path to cross over the bridge and Riverside Drive ends at the roundabout.

Most people turn around here - or start here to go the other end - but If you keep going over the bridge and straight down Figueroa after the roundabout you can turn right on 43rd, go over the bridge and turn left on Mosher (the first street). At the end of Mosher is a park where you can enter the Arroyo Seco Bike Path on your left. It goes all the way to South Pasadena!

Arroyo Seco Path

Highlight (Segment) • Cycleway

Long sections of Arroyo Seco Path are set low along the stream with few opportunities to access the areas it passes. Here is an opportunity to exit and cross Griffith St to the large Debs Regional Park, or to the other side to Sycamore Park (note: stairs).

Hilly park covering a surprising large space in this crowded urban area. Sliced by Arroyo Seco on its western side, there are only a couple access points to the trail which otherwise runs lower in the concrete bed of the seasonal stream.

Arroyo Seco Bike Trail

Highlight • Cycleway

Depending on the season the Arroyo is not so Seco, it can be pretty green after rain or in spring. The Arroyo trails are an excellent way to get North out of Los Angeles on safe dedicated trails without dangerous car traffic, redlight stops, or pollution.

Brookside Park

Highlight • Rest Area

Brookside Park is Pasadena's largest fully maintained park at 61.1 acres. It sits south of Rose Bowl Stadium with tons of parking off Arroyo Boulevard. The park features a lighted baseball diamond, two softball diamonds, and a large, lighted, multi-purpose field for soccer and flag football. There is also a speaker's platform with permanent seating, numerous picnic tables, barbecue pits, a play area, restrooms, and drinking fountains.

The Los Angeles River Trail, also known as the Los Angeles River Bike Path, stretches 38.28 miles from Owensmouth Avenue in Canoga Park to 401 Golden Shore in Long Beach. The trail features a mix of asphalt, concrete, and dirt surfaces. Open in several disconnected segments along the Los Angeles River, it is open to biking, inline skating, and walking, offering a scenic trail through the urbanized landscape of Los Angeles.

Red Car Bridge

Highlight • Bridge

The Red Car Bridge is a bicycle and pedestrian only bridge which opened in January of 2020. This pre-fab bridge was placed on the footings of the Red Car trolleys rail line, which stopped running some 60 plus years ago. Great views of the LA river and is lit up at night. Connects Atwater Village to the LA River bike path. - credit M. James Watkins, local guide
