Friesen Spring

Highlight (Segment) • Natural Monument

The ascent from the center of Kasendorf to the Jura hill near Welschenkahl has a gradient of up to 8% over a length of around 2.7 km. The mountain runs quite evenly and can therefore be cycled well. The steepest part is right at the beginning.

Kulmbach is a town with about 27,000 inhabitants, a large district town, which is located roughly in the middle of Upper Franconia. The landmark is the Plassenburg and the ascent is a challenge for cyclists as well as for hikers. As a racing cyclist, the absolute highlight is to master the Burgberg with its incline of up to 22 percent in a sprint. Quite a few have to take a little break from pushing or, like me, a 32 sprocket, chain on the left and pedaling out of the saddle, then it is also a good challenge for a hobby racer to conquer the 🏰 Burgberg with a racing bike.

Kulmbach is located on the Weißen Main and close to the Fichtelgebirge, Franconian Switzerland and the Franconian Forest are also in the catchment area of the large district town. And so you can do excellent day trips in dreamlike regions from here. Last but not least, the Mainweg should also be mentioned, which leads from the Fichtelgebirge through Kulmbach. So there's a lot to discover 🧭 here in Kulmbach and at the good Kulmbacher Edelherb you can plan the tour for the next day in the evening.

Burglesauer Valley

Highlight (Segment) • Gorge

the Burglesau valley is currently one of my absolute highlights: sensational landscape / nature along the Burglesau brook. Even if it doesn't always look like this, the entire route to Graefenhäusling can be ridden with a racing bike

View of Giechburg

Highlight • Viewpoint

he's right there, the schalli!
Giechburg always works ...
I don't really enjoy riding the Ruckel cycle path between Giech and Schäätz, however. Every time, ask me who came up with the glorious idea ...

View of Giechburg and Gügel

Highlight • Viewpoint

Giechburg is always worth a trip. After a steep ascent, you will be rewarded with a great view. The economy has good food and beer.

Seehof Palace

Highlight • Castle

A huge area, beautiful, especially when the fountains are also running. Former summer residence and hunting lodge of the Bamberg prince-bishops. About 21 hectares of land. The many beautiful lakes around are partly also artistically designed with carp farming.

is currently one of my absolute highlights: great landscape along the Burglesaubächlein. Everything can be ridden with a racing bike - even if it doesn't always look that way at first.
