It's very impressive to cycle right next to the cliffs. The cycle path is in good condition, but quite narrow.

When I reached the cliffs I could hardly believe what I was seeing. There they stood, towering, mighty and impressive, and it was as if the cycle path had forced its way right through these ancient rocks. On one side of the path the Werra, flowing calmly and serenely, and on the other side these huge cliffs that seemed almost alive in the morning sun.

It was an amazing sight and a bit like cycling through a huge open-air museum. The sun played with the light and shadow on the rocks and I couldn't help but keep stopping to enjoy the view. The cliffs seemed to tell stories from long ago and I felt like a small part of that long history.

The cycle path itself was a joy to ride. It was well maintained and took me through a landscape that seemed somehow magical. At times I was in the shadow of the cliffs, at times in the sunshine on the banks of the Werra. There was always something new to see and I enjoyed every minute of this ride.

Our Werra - bike tour day 3 with 87 km began in our overnight place Vacha.

From Vacha we always went along the Werra to Philipstahl, Heringen, Wittershausen, Gerstungen, then to the former border crossing at Herleshausen, on to Creuzburg, Treffurt and to our 3 overnight stays in Großburschla.
Weather was very windy today but dry from above. …

Today I'm going around 10 o'clock.
A wonderful tour awaited me today with a few climbs.
It is sooo beautiful on the Werra.
Today finally the 100 km full again was about time. It was a nice warm day.
Super quiet place to sleep on the fishing lake and about 50 m from the Werra. I think the pictures speak …

Very varied again today with many benches in beautiful places to rest. However, there are few places to stop for refreshments. You should have food with you.

This stage completely followed the Werratalradweg. At the beginning past the potash mines of potash and salt. Absolute recommendation the visitor mine in Merkers. We didn't have this on the plan this time, but we did a visit here on our Werratal tour from Neuhaus am Rennweg to Hameln. Tip: stay the night in Bad Salzungen, then visit the mine …

We actually came here to Thuringia/Hesse to hike—to complete another stage on the Green Belt. But since traveling by train is already a challenge, I opted for a car and bike combination: parked the car at the final hotel in Treffurt and then cycled through the Werra Valley to the starting hotel in Vacha. And how beautiful this tour was😊👍🍀🚴‍♂️🚴‍♂️! …
