St. John the Baptist Church, Elmore

Highlight • Historical Site

The church is an ancient stone structure with an embattled tower at the west end and an extensive churchyard. The north aisle was the original chancel and the lower of the three sections of the tower is from the 13th century. Elmore is on the eastern bank for the River Severn. A rock here obstructs the course of the Severn making it un-navigable at low water.

St. Laurence Church, Longney

Highlight • Historical Site

Else, lord of Longney until 1086/1087 build a church there and invited St. Wulfstan, Bishop of Worcester, to consecrate it. Built mainly of Lias stone, formerly covered externally with a yellow wash. No trace of the 11th century building is to be seen.

Saul church is situated in the horseshoe bend of the River Severn. Saul can only be approached by crossing one of the bridges at either end of the village. The church is mentioned in 1140, as having been build by the Monks of Standish.
