Cascais City Hall (Câmara Municipal de Cascais) is located in the city center, on Praça 5 de Outubro, an emblematic square that also houses the statue of King Pedro I.
Cascais has a rich history dating back to the Lower Paleolithic.
In the 14th century, it was a fishing and farming village dependent on Sintra.
On June 7, 1364, the inhabitants of Cascais petitioned King Pedro I to elevate the village to the status of a town, which was granted. This marked the beginning of its administrative and judicial autonomy.
