Bicycle Path Along the Zoo

Highlight (Segment) • Cycleway

Nice and friendly, you can look through the fence at llamas and other creatures :-).
Although in the summer let's make an appointment - there's a bit of rain and it's better to go on the other side or on the Vistula ;-)

Golędziowski Trail – Gravel Natura 2000

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

The Golędziów Trail is a gravel path stretching from the Gdański Bridge to the Grota Bridge. It is located in the protected landscape and special bird protection area Natura 2000 "Middle Vistula Valley". Golędziów is a former settlement, later annexed to Warsaw. The first mention of the Golędzinów settlement dates back to 1387. It was founded under Chełmno law. Golędzinów was a tannery settlement. In the 15th century, it was the property of knights and noblemen. The path is very well maintained, along the way you will meet benches, several windows on the Vistula and an entrance to the spurs, from which we have a great view of the river!

Żerań Footbridge

Highlight • Bridge

The Żerań Footbridge, opened in 2016, proved to be a success, quickly becoming a popular cycling route. The bridge behind the Żerań CHP plant enabled the continuation of the cycling route on the right bank of the Vistula, which was created as a result of many years of effort, which began in 2002. The footbridge is a key element of the 17.5 km cycling section, which connects the Łazienkowski and Grota bridges with the northern border of Warsaw. The project was implemented after the bridge was adapted to a pedestrian and bicycle path, which significantly facilitated cycling in this part of the city.

The filtration layer is maintained in proper condition by two looseners "Skinny Wojtek II" and "Skinny Wojtek III" and the "Sawa" dredger

(Skinny Wojtek 1 is lying somewhere on the bank next to the POW bridge, someone recently threw it in)

Gruba Kaśka

Highlight • Structure

Gruba Kaśka – a water intake in Warsaw and a municipal well building in the Vistula River bed, which pumps water from the system of sub-bottom drains to the Water Treatment Plant (SUW) "Praga" of the Central Plant located in Saska Kępa, belonging to the Municipal Water and Sewage Company (MPWiK). Excess water from Gruba Kaśka is directed to the other side of the river to the Water Treatment Plant (SUW) "Filtry" of the same plant.

It is the only facility in Europe located in the river current, using the natural infiltration process.

pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gruba_Ka%C5%9Bka

Additionally, Gruba Kaśka is accompanied higher up the Vistula and before the Siekierkowski Bridge by two bank intakes, commonly called
Małe Kaśki.

The set of necessary installations is completed by two ships that constantly regulate the thickness of the bottom filtering the water. These ships are called:
Chudy Wojtek II and III and the Sawa dredger

I managed to overcome my autumn morning reluctance and jump on my bike. The route was completely standard, but fortunately my brain was fooled and released a solid portion of endorphins in response to the spinning itself. Coffee and a cookie, with a view of the Vistula, also did the trick.

A bit of revenge for Sunday's withdrawal from the route - it worked out great. I had a cup of coffee before work and managed to make it before the heat. I don't like riding the same routes, but a round like this before work is great. I need to do this more often.

I didn't manage to turn around on the weekend, but I did manage to get out on the gravel bridges for 2 hours. It's a nice loop if there aren't many people, so it's best not to do it on the weekend.

Spontaneously, Piotrek suggested a bridge, how could I not agree 😊 of course, classic northern axes are not enough for me, so I convinced him to build north-south bridges 😅 neither he told me to go for a round nor I told him to extend the route for a long time 😄
