"Future-oriented places - new paths for nature and man"
Places that show what matters, if we want to leave livable villages in a beautiful landscape for future generations - in Burbach we have made them visible with the project ZukunftsWERTE Places.
At nine points in the municipality you can discover how people, nature and landscape, climate and village design are connected and how we in Burbach deal with it sustainably. Every station has something special to experience - for all ages.

As a distinguishing feature you will find at each station a landmark in the form of a tall stele made of oak with a steel band with the words "ZukunftsWERTE Orte" and an information board, usually surrounded by large basalt stones. All materials used have a reference to the region: wood as a typical resource of the wooded landscape, characterized by the Siegerland Haubergswirtschaft, steel as a symbol of the time of ore mining and basalt for the volcanic period and geological feature in the municipality Burbach. There are also small surprises at each station, which are related to the respective topic. The future-oriented places are located on cycling or hiking trails and each mark a point at which a future topic is particularly well experienced.

Accessibility is a top priority: most of the future-oriented places are easy to reach and experience even with a wheelchair or walker.

Eight stations are completed, the ninth will later be built at the "Old Bailiwick" in Burbach, which is currently being converted into a visitor, meeting and experience center.

The project was funded to 80% by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and funds from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) in the competition "Erlebnis.NRW".

The “Old Mill” was rebuilt on the foundations of what was probably the first house in the town of Lippe with the help of Leader funding and well over 1000 hours of the village's own effort. It is used as a meeting place for citizens and as a resting place for visitors to the Buchhellertal as well as cyclists and hikers.
