Col de la Bonette

Highlight • Mountain Pass

Don’t look too hard at the Bonette’s claim – seen on signposts the length of the ascent from Jausiers in the north and from Saint-Étienne-de-Tinée in the south – that it is the highest road in Europe. Instead, marvel at the panorama in front of you which will make the debate seem inconsequential.

Col de la Bonette is part of our Montagnes à la Carte series, head over to bit.ly/2Utf27L and claim your badge if you rode this classic.

Equally spectacular on the way up or down. In 06/2019, the road condition on the entire southern ramp was very neat, so downhill a very enjoyable driving was possible.

Camp des Fourches military camp

Highlight • Historical Site

The Camp des Fourches was part of a set of fortifications protecting the Ubaye valley from potential Italian attacks. This barracks in particular was used by alpine hunters whose mission was to defend the Col des Fourches.

The department wished to preserve and enhance this work, in memory of the mountain troops who fought during the First and Second World Wars. On the site, a set of explanatory panels recounts the history of this place.

The Waterfall - Torrent de Vens

Highlight • Waterfall

A beautiful waterfall rushes here directly next to the road to the valley - the cool air, which he brings, is at the driveway welcome cooling. In the downhill, you may hardly notice this gem of nature, in the narrow hairpin bends, it is advisable to focus attention on the track.

Monument Suprème today🏔! Highest pass in Europe, according to the French then🫡. After 1.5 hours super nice car ride out in Saint Etienne de Tinée. From there 25km😲 climb from approx. 1300 to 2862m💪🏼. Hopefully unlike until 2011 now possible incl. the Cime, the last artificial steep km🤞🏻. I find the Bonette with 6-7% a nice running climb, also went …
