Ferme d'Herbouilly – Resistance Command Post

The Herbouilly farm was Captain Goderville's command post during resistance operations in the Vercors in June 1944.

Located on the Herbouilly plateau, more precisely in a clearing in the Herbouilly forest, not far from the chimney cave (at the limits of the municipal territories of Saint-Julien-en-Vercors, Saint-Martin-en-Vercors and Villard-de-Lans), the site of the farm would make it possible to receive airdrops and/or shelter fighters, the farm, isolated in the very center of the Vercors in a place difficult to access but easily spotted by plane, had been abandoned in the 1930s due to an anthrax epidemic.

Destroyed in July 1944 by German troops, some ruins remain today. An explanatory sign has been posted on the premises.
