In 1807 the population of Ingolsheim was divided as follows: 14.5% Catholics, 13.5% Jews and 70% Protestants.
After the annexation to the German Empire in 1871, rapid industrialization and large population growth followed. An Adler-Oppenheimer leather factory (later: Tanneries de France) was established, which had approximately 2,000 employees in 1914. There were also sand pits. In 1903 a tram line came to Strasbourg.
