What to expect on Rocky River Nature Center – Rocky River loop from West Park
This route is entirely paved and in great condition, making it ideal for road bikes with skinny tires or hybrid bikes. You'll enjoy spectacular views as the trail winds alongside the Rocky River, passing through deep floodplain forests, meadows, and areas dotted with wildflowers. Keep an eye out for wildlife and the impressive tall shale cliffs rising steeply from the river, including the 360-million-year-old shale cliff visible from the Nature Center's deck. While primarily flat, be prepared for a few short, steep inclines that add a bit of a challenge, especially if you're heading southbound on the return journey.

The mature forests provide ample shade, which is particularly welcome during hot summer rides.
