Fish Hill Picnic Area

Fish Hill is the name of the car park and small nature reserve at the top of the A44 hill near Broadway Tower. The name apparently comes from the monks who used to cultivate fish in the ponds here, although both the monks and ponds are long gone. It's a good place to start an easy walk to the tower and cafe.

Broadway Tower

Broadway Tower is a unique castle in a breathtaking location. At 1,024 feet (312 m) above sea level, it is the second highest point on the Cotswold escarpment and boasts spectacular views that stretch into 16 counties.

The ‘Saxon’ tower was the brainchild of Capability Brown and designed by James Wyatt in 1794 in the form of a castle. It was built for Lady Coventry between 1798–99. You can buy tickets to visit the tower.

Cotswold Voluntary Wardens worked on the site at Lybrook Farm, planting 2,000 trees, including ash, oak and beech.

The Broadway Trust paid for the trees with a legacy left by Willersey woman Lucy Nash and the wardens funded a fence and gates around the site to protect the trees.
