The Galician Transversal Railway was opened on December 16, 1884. The mountain railway to Zakopane was opened on October 25, 1899. A locomotive shed was built in the village. Podhale was a holiday center for tourists. In 1944, a second locomotive shed was built in Chabówka. In January 1945, the railway station and the locomotive shed were liquidated by the German army. The locomotive shed was rebuilt in 1947. Steam locomotives from Chabówka ran freight trains on local lines. Shaped semaphores were removed during the electrification of the railway line to Zakopane. On June 11, 1993, an open-air museum of rolling stock was opened in the locomotive shed. The village is located on the tourist railway route through the Carpathians. (Wikipedia)
