Dumont Quarter

The Dumont district is a pearl of architectural heritage, created at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century under the direction of architect Albert Dumont. His son Alexis Dumont designed the unique development plan for this neighborhood of rural cottages built with respect for the existing environment and the dune relief. Large houses with sea views were built on the high dune elevations. One of them was the 'Villa Kykhill' on the dune of the same name, after which the public park was named. On this dune the fishermen women stood to see the departure and arrival of their men. Originally, the houses were built in cottage style; Later, more modern houses were added. Just as important as the houses themselves are the gardens, trees and plants.

Since 1995, the Dumont district is a listed building. It is a nice counterpart to the more modern part of De Panne.
