Castildetierra Hill

Mount Castildetierra, in Blanca Baja, is a unique geological formation in Navarre, unique and of particular interest for its landscape and educational value.

It is a large natural column of soft rock, generally of sedimentary origin (clay or shale and marl), whose top is formed by a more resistant sandstone rock that protects this column from erosion. The dominant erosion forces in the Cabezo de Castildetierra are the force of the rains and the wind in the region (the north wind). Strong canyons are observed in the lowest part of the structure.
