Silvester Cave

Cave is a little over the top. Is more of a rock overhang, which provides some protection from bad weather. Nice rest area, if people would take their garbage again :-(

May 29, 2025,Genovevahöhle – Klausenhöhle Runde von Kordel
Kordel was the starting point!
Followed the previous route!
Vacationed there and loved it... Landscape, history, and appealing objects, plus highlights.
You should be a bit of off-road proficiency.
Others say it's suitable for alpine use! 🤷
Mean mortals take longer and are more out of breath.
If you want to hike, expect a bad path. 👍
Please don't misunderstand... …

It was a really nice tour and we will definitely repeat it!

First, the path along the stream with the small waterfalls and rope bridges was an experience. Actually, this part of the route would have been closed because of the storm damage, but we only found that out at the end of the valley. So we had to climb …

Hike from Kordel train station in the direction of Silvesterhöhle along the Butzerbachtal valley past the waterfalls. Unfortunately only on the western side as the path is closed due to a landslide. Continue on the Roman path to the Pützlöcher, to the Genovevahöhle and after a steep descent to the Klausenhöhle and via Ramstein Castle back to the train station. …

A very recommendable hike with numerous highlights, such as the Butzerbach waterfalls, various caves and a former copper mine. Largely in the forest, it is very pleasant even in summer temperatures.

It is a super beautiful and incredibly varied tour. I walked it for the first time in February 23 - but the other way round. In summer it is even more beautiful :)

Officially, the Butzerbachtal is closed, which is a real nuisance to the owners of Ramstein Castle, as they depend on hikers and tourists.
It's a good thing... …

Unfortunately, we could only view the Butzerbach waterfalls and the two suspension bridges from above because the path was closed. So we had to follow a detour.
Nevertheless, it was a nice hike on varied small and large paths.
We found the huge Genoveva cave and the rock formations there particularly impressive.
Ramstein Castle and the beer garden next door …

I highly recommend it to those who like challenges, the route is great, a bit dangerous because it's raining. Steep ascent and descent. A revelation for me

The Porta Nigra...🤔🤔
Based on our yesterday's tour,
The premium hiking trails Eifelsteig and Römerpfad led us today
Roman coin mark -
to sights such as the "Pützlöcher" -
a copper mine and ancient quarry. From here the cuboids were used to build the Porta Nigra, the Cologne Cathedral, the Reichstag building and the Leipzig main train station, or they …
