June 12, 2025,🚴 Palmanova - Grado mit Kindern
Day 4 on the Alpe Adria Cycle Route II for families with Eurobike.

Our destination today: Grado and the Adriatic Sea. I thought that the beach as our destination would give us the best motivation to make rapid progress. But it turned out that our legs were tired, the heat was oppressive, and the cycle path was too Grado-like.

Palmanova is pretty cool as a stage finish. A fairly symmetrical city with sometimes not enough hotel beds!
The path then leads to Aquileia, an absolute must-stop, the approach to Grado across the lagoon is the highlight of the trip.

Today last day. Departure in Palmanova through the old city gate, past Roman protective walls in the direction of Aquvileia, also an archaeological site. Then completely flat ride until reaching Grado. DONE!!!

Nice trip from Grado to Palmanova and back, weather was almost a bit too warm 😅

A heavy rain shower caught us in the middle of an open field.
We took shelter under a bush, but it didn't help much, and put on our rain gear.
From Palmanova, we took a small detour to the southeast …

The last day. The path is flat and cycle paths alternate with town passages as on the previous days. The way to the coast drags on a bit. A long straight stretch at almost 30 degrees with rarely any shade.
At Aquileia there is a museum with a series of excavation sites from Roman times. But we cultural barbarians were …

Our last stage led us from Palmanova to Grado with a small detour to the Palmanova outlet. The highlight was the connection with the trip over the long dam to Grado. In the end, all four of us were of the opinion that it was a sensationally beautiful tour. Every day had something special. We can only recommend this tour.
