The Great Seddiner See, often simply Seddiner See, formerly Seddinsee, is 218 hectares after Blankensee (280 hectares) the second largest lake in the Nuthe-Nieplitz Nature Park. It has an average depth of 3 and a maximum depth of 7.2 meters. Its edge zones are largely reeded. There are several sandy beaches on the lake, the largest in Kähnsdorf. The shallow lakes were created in the Brandenburg stage of the Vistula glaciation around 20,000 years ago.
