The marketplace was a place where fairs and markets were held. Until 1722, a unified town hall stands in the middle of the square, whose towers can be seen in engravings depicting Krapkowice from that time. Buildings located around the market mostly belong to the richest townspeople - merchants and traders. In the further distance from the center of Brazilian artisans their homes. Karol Chodkiewicz Memorial Site

Highlight • Monument

He was born on September 12, 1904 in Strzelczynice, in the then Bratslav district of the Podolia Governorate, in the family of Karol, a landowner, and Faustyna[a]. He studied in Zhytomyr and Lviv. Then he continued his education in the Cadet Corps No. 1 in Łobzów, where he completed the sixth grade of junior high school
Together with a group of about 70 friends, he took part as a volunteer in the Third Silesian Uprising. He fought in the 8th Infantry Regiment, in the area of Góra Św. Anna. He died on May 21, 1921 in the Battle of Oleszka. To avoid falling into the hands of the Germans, he committed suicide, and according to another version, he died from a German gunshot. Originally buried in Oleszka, the body was then moved to the Rakowicki cemetery in Kraków
A plaque in his honor is on the wall of the chapel. Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the village of Oleszka. In the same village there is an erratic boulder with a plaque at the place of his death. A plaque commemorating Chodkiewicz is also built into the Wawel wall on the road leading to the main entrance. He is the patron of the 7th Wołczyńska Flammae Scout Team

Chapel on the Marshes

Highlight • Religious Site

Perfectly visible from the highway, also known for the fact that for many years, every Sunday in May, Fr. prof. Joachim Piecuch celebrates Marian services there in German. A large group of residents of Gogolin, Krapkowice, the Karłubiec district, Zdzieszowice and surrounding villages gather then.

The chapel, built in 1801 in the fields, is the common property of local residents. The Marian chapel was built next to a water spring that springs naturally from the ground. The water collects in a small well and is widely believed to have healing properties.

According to E. Boronczyk's publication (Karłubiec 1302 - 2008, pp. 170-171), it was probably founded by the Gaszyns from Żyrowa, to commemorate the miraculous recovery of sight by the counts' child. According to oral tradition, Mary was supposed to show Countess Gaszyn this special place. During World War II, Stanisław Wojtala, as a soldier on the Eastern Front, vowed to visit the chapel every week if he returned safely from the war. Older residents remember how at any time of the year, even in winter, in the deepest snow, he would make his way to the chapel...
