Sanctuary of Our Lady of Fátima, Krzeptówki

Highlight • Religious Site

This shrine dedicated to Our Lady of Fátima was built at a place where a humble chapel of Our Lady was built in the 1950ies. It is a votive church, which construction started several years after the 1981 attempt on John Paul II life in Rome. The church was consecrated by the Pope himself in 1997 and soon became the second most important sanctuary for Góral people and first in terms of visitor number in Podhale.
The interior is an interesting example of modern local architecture, impressive wood ornaments, there is a nice view towards the Tatras from the top of the entrance stairs.

Villa Koliba in Zakopane

The Villa Koliba in Zakopane is considered the first building in the famous Zakopane style and is one of the region's most significant architectural monuments. It was built between 1892 and 1893 according to the designs of artist and architect Stanisław Witkiewicz, who inspired the distinctive architectural style that combines traditional Goral elements with artistic wood carvings.

Today, the villa houses the Museum of the Zakopane Style, where visitors can view original furniture, handicrafts, and historical everyday objects. The exhibition offers a fascinating insight into the architecture, culture, and way of life of the Tatra mountain dwellers.
