Church of the Finding of the Holy Cross in Charnowo

The church with a wattle and daub construction was erected on the plan of the Latin cross with an adjacent square tower. The brick tower with stone foundations is the oldest part of the church, dating back to the 15th century. It is crowned with a baroque, octagonal helmet covered with shingles. The body of the church with a skeleton and brick construction comes from the 18th century, it was rebuilt in the 19th century and covered with a gable roof.
Inside the church, the original furnishings have been largely preserved. The main altar, dating back to the seventeenth century, contains representations: in the predella (the lowest part of the altar) of the Last Supper, in the central part of the Crucifixion, and in the headpiece the Resurrection scene. Particularly noteworthy are the emporas, i.e. the musical choirs surrounding the interior of the temple. Empires with an interesting sculpture come from the second half of the 19th century and were probably made by a local artist. The original furnishings of the church also include an organ prospectus, benches and stalls dating from 1625.
In the immediate vicinity of the church there are remains of an old German cemetery. The cast-iron fence of the grave of Gustav Rohde, who is a teacher and a church teacher in Arnshagen (German name of Kharnów), and the cast-iron cross from the grave of August Koch, the mayor of Gałęzinów, have been preserved in the cemetery.
