The door of S.Giovanni, built at the end of the century. XII, it was called the "door of the notice", and then S. Lazzaro, from the hospice of the same name for lepers which stood not far from there. Renovated in 1555-56 by the mayor Girolamo Zorzi, the gate, with its beautiful architecture where a round arch predominates, lost its defensive character to take on that of the main entrance to the city for men and goods coming from the nearby Fondaco.
