Fiorenzuola di Focara

Highlight • Settlement

Following the hairpin bends along the panoramic road you arrive at Fiorenzuola di Focara, a medieval village with splendid views of the Adriatic Sea, in the Monte San Bartolo natural park. In the past it was known only as Fiorenzuola, but in 1889 Focara was added, probably due to the fires fired to direct those sailing by boat.

One of the castles and strongholds for the defense of the territory which stands on one of the two promontories of the Adriatic Sea (San Bartolo) and which together with Castel di Mezzo and Gradara formed a formidable sighting line.

The regional park of Mount San Bartolo is the first promontory along the Adriatic coast. It overlooks the sea and from above there are breathtaking views of both the sea and the hills and hinterland. An idyllic destination for cycling and walking in company. There are several paths to explore it.

The city is located on Mount Accio in the north of the Marche region, in the province of Pesaro Urbino on the border with Emilia Romagna. From its height you can see the city of Cesenatico, Rimini with its majestic skyscraper, Portoverde as well as the rolling hills of the Marche hinterland.

June 17, 2023,Road to Fiorenzuola (prova Bikepacking)
Circular tour up to Fiorenzuola di Focara, along the San Bartolo park to test the bags and the weight on the climb; between W Festival and the landslides of the May flood.

Time spontaneously defeated the inner bastard and drove towards Pescara, through Parco Nationale di Bartolo. The Via Panoramica does not bear its name for nothing, all the climbs are also worth the effort in terms of experience... only the asphalt here and there is not really suitable for racing bikes - it's a good thing that the choice fell on …

Truly a beautiful promontory on the sea, sulubre air 🌅 fantastic I'll be back 😄

Showing Translation

In wonderful weather, we cycled today first along the coast to Gabicce Mare and then up into medieval Gradara. The large castle towers high above the coast on one of the many spurs of the Apennines south of Cattolica. A quite touristy place, but also with many beautiful views of the old town below the castle and the hilly surroundings.
