The partnership certificate between Rosheim / Alsace and Kappelrodeck was ceremoniously signed on October 9th, 1994 in Kappelrodeck and on March 12th, 1995 in Rosheim. After more than a year of intensive search by the partnership committee, the choice fell on the former free imperial city of Rosheim, about 80 kilometers away. Rosheim is a typical Alsatian town that nestles against the wooded mountain slopes of the Vosges and is surrounded by vineyards on the wine route. The famous Mont Sainte-Odile with the monastery, which is important for the fortunes of the region, is nearby. Despite its liveliness, Rosheim has retained its medieval character to this day. Around 4,200 people live in the pretty town. The administrative area of the canton city covers more than 3,000 hectares of land.
