In the north of the Ardeche (Eyrieux Valley) the landscape is mountainous with gorges and rivers below. There used to be a railway line here that was converted into a cycle path with EU money after it was closed. At Le Cheyland, the top RV park on a reservoir offers a good starting point. The signage is best.
