Warnemünde Lighthouse

Highlight • Monument

The so-called Teepott is a landmark in Warnemünde. Ulrich Müther, a civil engineer from the island of Rügen, designed the striking building with the curved roof. In the tea pot you will find restaurants and souvenir shops.

Right next to it is the almost 40 meter high lighthouse, another landmark of the Baltic Sea resort. It was put into operation in 1898. The lighthouse in Warnemünde is shown on the poster for the film "Shutter Island" with Leonardo Dicaprio - but nothing more. Because the Hollywood film was not shot on the Baltic Sea.

From Easter to the beginning of October the tower is open to visitors daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Admission is 2 euros.

This beautiful, well over a kilometer-long beach promenade was built over 100 years ago.

During the summer months, there are many stalls here, and it can get quite busy 😉

Stoltera Coastal Forest

Highlight • Forest

The region is particularly important for coastal protection and is home to typical plant species such as sea buckthorn bushes and rare birds such as the sea eagle. The species-rich coastal forest also provides shelter for many animals, including wild boars and deer, which are native to this special environment.

Highlight • Forest

Stoltera is a 3 km long nature reserve on the Baltic Sea coast west of Warnemünde.
This area is characterized by a coastal forest and the adjacent cliff that slopes up to 20 meters to the Baltic Sea.
The cliff is the habitat for the sand martin.
The Baltic Sea Cycle Path, which is particularly popular with hikers and cyclists in summer, leads through the coastal forest.
The main tree species here are beech and birch.

Walking on the beach, cooling your feet, listening to the sound of the waves, collecting stones, swimming, sunbathing, eating ice cream. So beautiful!

Considering I can only manage 5 km at the moment, it was pretty good.🥳

Always along the cliffs - Warnemünde almost always greets you.

The Baltic Sea 💕 and a lovely hike from the beach, through the ghost forest, with a stop for refreshments and some cheeky fruit fresh from the bush. It's a shame they don't serve fish sandwiches (anymore) in Nienhagen 🥹. We took the bus back.

Another piece on the long-distance hiking trail E9. The path continues above the steep coast. As soon as you walk down the beach, you have to be careful. Seagulls are lying around everywhere. And they can't be bothered at all. After a few kilometers we come to the Stoltera nature reserve, a cliff with a coastal forest. From here it …

Today we went to Warnemünde for the second time. We were even lucky enough to be able to stay in the same place as last time 🥂🍾🥂
This time, however, we went further to Nienhagen.
