Chemnitztal Cycle Path

Highlight (Segment) • Cycleway

The people of Chemnitz can be truly proud of their bike path: completely paved, with a roughly 30-meter-long tunnel through the rock, and at least one large bridge. What more could you want?

"The bicycle is a strange vehicle. Its passenger is its engine."

(John Howard)

From Chemnitz to the Göhren Viaduct and back via Wechselburg, today was supposed to be a relaxing ride with my venerable "Grande Dame."

I've done a similar tour before, back when the Chemnitz Valley Cycle Path from Chemnitz was still under construction.

Past Little Switzerland to the mouth of the Chemnitz River into the Mulde, that was the goal today.

Although the single trail was impassable in places, the trip was worth it.
The Chemnitz begins …

In terms of weather, today was supposed to be the nicest day of the week - with little rain and still a bit of warmth. So we tackled the Chemnitz Valley Cycle Path. Equipped with rain gear, of course, because when you have rain gear with you, it usually doesn't rain; that worked out well - until just before the …

Next time, it could be a few degrees cooler. But it was a great ride! They did a fantastic job, especially on the Chemnitztal cycle path!

The weather wasn't kind to me today. I also left a bit late, then it started to sneeze shortly before Burgstädt and didn't want to stop either. Luckily I had rain gear with me, but you get just as wet from the inside. Despite everything, a nice round, only with a few photos and without a beer garden. 🍺😩
