Today we decided to go on a tour to Schmalkalden. The weather was sunny at the start, the wind was relatively fresh, and it gradually became cloudier during the tour, but we were spared from rain. Highlights were the view of Inselsberg from Herrenkuppe and, of course, the old town of Schmalkalden.

From Walldorf it went over the beautiful Wallbachtal high over the "Hohe Straße" and the Gaststube Henneberger Haus downhill again to Schmalkalden. Unfortunately, I only caught a glimpse of the Wilhelmsburg, but it is definitely worth a visit.
Over Schwallungen and Wasungen, it's a leisurely stroll along the Werra. The WTR is always a great bike path.

Today a small round along the Werratal bike path, beautiful bike path, start at Reichenbach (Floh Seligenthal) Schmalkalden, Schwallungen, Wasungen to Walldorf. Actually on to Meiningen, but the storm front was getting closer, so I hurried back through the forest on the other side. Just about made it before it got uncomfortable.
