Wooden bridge over the Fichtelsee

Highlight • Bridge

Two new arch bridges were erected at Fichtelsee in September 2021. They replace the two dilapidated wooden buildings that stood here before. If you stand on the bridge, you have a wonderful view over the lake to the Schneeberg.

The Fichtelseemoor is an important raised bog. In this relic of the last ice age, which is between 8,000 and 10,000 years old, a unique flora and fauna typical of raised bogs has developed under the barren conditions.

August 17, 2025,Frankenstones 🪨 am Fichtelsee ⛵️
Today we explored Lake Fichtelsee in glorious sunshine! The sun was almost too bright, so we shone more than the water's surface. Our 4-kilometer walk around the lake was actually quite relaxing, except for the fact that we had to keep our eyes peeled the whole way. We were on the hunt for the mysterious Frankenstones!

A trip to the Fichtel Mountains with a hike around Lake Fichtel. A few millimeters of snow gave us a touch of winter ❄️☃️. It was also significantly colder than at home, but we were accompanied by sunshine 🌞 on our little hike 👍🥰😎.

"Old descriptions of the Fichtelsee tell of a deep mountain lake that hits the Ochsenkopf with its waves. According to current knowledge, there has never been such a lake. Rather, its origin has to do with mining Ditch dug. In addition to the Fichtelnaab, it was supposed to provide additional water power to drive the hammers. As time went on, …

Easter in the Fichtel Mountains. Good Friday is quite rainy, but it's still enough for a lap (or rather, eight laps) around Lake Fichtelsee. The weather somehow has a Canadian feel. The lake underlines this.

After we had paid a long visit to the vehicle museum in Fichtelberg, we took a leisurely stroll around the Fichtelsee in the rainy weather and had a delicious meal at the Waldhotel.

It was a lovely, relaxing day 😊😊
