Brannan Street Wharf 🚢

Highlight • Viewpoint

Brannan Street Wharf is a wedge-shaped park south of Pier 30-32 in San Francisco;s South Beach area. From this narrowest point the park then extends south for 830 feet, widening to about 140-feet at the south end between Pier 36 and Pier 38. The major project components include a 400-foot length lawn area, a waterside walkway with seating, a shade structure, and a small-craft floating dock for kayaks and recreational water vessels. The design references its San Francisco waterfront history by taking on the shape of Pier 36 in its original location and through interpretive exhibits. The level lawn of the Wharf is contained in a raised planter of about 18-inches in height and surrounded by a seat wall. The openness of the site is intended to orient the Wharf both toward the Bay and the adjacent neighborhood. parks.smcgov.org/san-bruno-mountain-state-county-park

Ferry Building

Highlight • Monument

The San Francisco Ferry Building is one of the most iconic feature of the city. Built in 1898 this is one of very few building to survive both the 1906 & 1989 earthquakes. In fact the1989 earthquake lead to a second life for the building after freeway that passed in front of the building collapsed. This spurred on a number of renovation projects to reconnect the Embarcadero to the rest of the city.

Battery East Road Trail

Highlight (Segment) • Cycleway

Battery East Road is the continuation of the well paved, two-lane bike trail that starts as Presidio Promenade from the Presidio Main Post, and is usually very busy with tourists biking and walking to the Golden Gate Bridge. It contours the former Battery East, part of the coastal defenses built in the mid 19th century to ward off intruders from the Golden Gate.

Bikers coming off the Golden Gate Bridge Bike lane or coming up from the Presidio Promenade and Crissy Field can now safely continue South on a smooth gravel path south on the bluffs above the Pacific between the historic Battery Godfrey buildings, without going through the car tunnels under the bridge ramp.
