Lindau's Old Town

Highlight • Historical Site

According to the official city name, Lindau is not on Lake Constance, but in Lake Constance. Because Lindau's old town is located on an island and is connected to the mainland by two dams for railways and cars. However, most of today's urban area is on the mainland. The landmarks of the old town can be found at the harbor entrance. The lighthouse and the Bavarian lion are probably the best known on Lake Constance.

After the Kettensteg in Nuremberg and the Tiergartenbrücke in Berlin, this bridge is the third oldest suspension bridge in Germany and as such a very special bridge structure of its time, which is still worth a visit today!

The bridge is the oldest cable suspension bridge in Germany and was made in Paris. For technology freaks, this bridge is something special.

You can catch a glimpse of Lake Constance here. Countless small shells lie at your feet. You also have a beautiful view of Langenargen Castle. And every now and then a duck walks in front of the camera lens. 🥰

From the shore of Lake Constance near Langenargen, a magnificent view opens up over the large lake with its reflective surface and the Alps behind it.

October 2, 2025,Stopp in Lindau 😎
Today is almost the last leg of Lake Constance.
We started in Bregenz in the morning at 3 degrees Celsius, and after a short stretch, we stopped in Lindau in glorious sunshine.
Sightseeing and climbing the lighthouse were the highlights of the midday trip.
Then we continued along the northern shore to Friedrichshafen. Along the way, we had a lovely …

We were so lucky with the weather, it was forecast to be terrible, but apart from the last hour when it poured with rain, it was dry, partly sunny and pleasantly mild

What an unforgettable day on our 2025 bike tour through the beautiful Lake Constance region! 🚴‍♂️ Our plan to take the Räuberbahn (Robber Railway) to Altshausen and from there to Ravensburg was put to the test right from the start: Bernd's bike had a flat tire! With a quick refill, we just barely made it to the train station, where …

September 2, 2024,Von Bregenz nach Hagnau
From Hagnau to Friedrichshafen by bike, then by boat to Bregenz. You can visit the great lakeside stage, including the stage set for the Freischütz. Back by bike via Lindau, Wasserburg and Friedrichshafen to Hagnau. Only used Komoot on the way back, so the whole tour was 74 km. Beautiful.

Unfortunately, Koomot recorded the train journey back despite the interruption!🙈
