Ashton Court Giant Head Sculpture

Highlight • Monument

The Ashton Court head sculpture is a large, carved stone head that is located in the grounds of Ashton Court, a country house and estate in Bristol, England. The head is thought to represent Goram, one of two mythical giants said to have built Bristol. The other giant, Vincent, is said to be represented by a similar head that is located on the other side of the city.

The Ashton Court head sculpture is made of limestone and is about 2.5 meters (8 feet) tall. It has a long, bearded face with a fierce expression. The head is thought to have been carved in the 17th century, although its exact origins are unknown.

The Ashton Court head sculpture is a popular tourist attraction and is often visited by people who are interested in local history and folklore. It is also a popular spot for photography and is often used as a backdrop for weddings and other events.

Wild Country Lane

Highlight • Trail

Get off the main roads with this useful cut-through which is part of the national cycle network. Really short and steep leg burner, but keeps you away from the busy main roads and airport-taxi rat runs through Barrow Gurney.

Hobbs Lane Cut-Through

Highlight • Trail

Useful cut-through between the A38 and Barrow Gurney avoiding some potentially dangerous busy stretches and junctions. Gets really muddy in winter, and as very narrow best taken steadily. Part of the national cycle route.

„The girl with the pierced eardrum“

The newest of Banky's Bristol works, this first appeared on the side of a building in Albion Docks in Hanover Place, in Bristol's Harbourside in October 2014. You can find it near to Bristol Marina, look out for the clock tower and the nearby burger van.

It depicts a take on Vermeer’s famous Girl with a Pearl Earring, replacing the girl’s earring with an outdoor security alarm.
